SCAM ALERT: Fake DWP Messages Targeting UK Residents With £300 Winter Payment Trap

A wave of scam messages is currently circulating across the UK, targeting people who may be expecting financial support from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). The message claims you’ve failed to apply for the 2024–2025 Winter Fuel Payment and urges you to click a link to receive your £300.

But here’s the truth: it’s a scam.

The text usually comes from an international number (like +62 – Indonesia) and directs you to a fake government-looking website, such as: gov.uk-subwini.cfd
The website may appear official, but it’s designed to steal your personal and bank details.

You’ll be asked to enter:
– Your full name and address
– Phone number and email
Debit or credit card information for “receiving payments”

Let’s be clear:
DWP will never ask for this information via text message.
They do not send links asking for card details. All applications are handled exclusively through the official GOV.UK website:

How the scam works:

– It creates urgency: “Apply before July 14 or you’ll lose £300”
– It mimics official domains with misleading URLs
– It uses coded text blocks to appear technical and legitimate
– It tricks people into handing over sensitive financial data

If you’ve already clicked the link and entered your information, act fast:
– Contact your bank and cancel your card
– Report the scam to Action Fraud UK
– Monitor your online accounts for suspicious activity

This is not just about £300 – it’s about your identity and financial security. Please share this article with friends and family, especially those who may not be fluent in English and are more vulnerable to such schemes.

Stay alert. Stay informed. Don’t let scammers win.
